STOP THE VIOLENCE RALLY
Columbus 2014 Georgia
My name is Shavon Tolbert a local columbus Ga resident. My Brothers Keeper Foundation and the 1st Annual Stop the Violence Rally began with a broken heart. My brother David Scott was brutally murdered by a gun shot to the head on 7th st. September 19th, 2013 article link here. Although my family and I were devestated, this is when the seed was planted inside of me to do something about the violence in our area. At first, I didn't quite know what to do, but whatever it was, I knew that I had to go directly to the people of the community to effect real change on our streets.... Here I am. Here we are.
This program is mainly targeted towards older teens and young adults from the ages of 17-24, but aims to capture them at earlier ages to deter them from a life of crime as they get older. Statistics show this is the prime age range (17-24) when males are more prone to commit a violent crime. I am here to send out a warcry this year against this sad fact and as of January 18th, 2014, this will no longer be tolerated or over looked, and my (our) efforts will not stop there. Many positive things can blossom from a broken heart.
In light of this tragedy that struck my family on that fateful day in the not so distant date of September 19th, 2013, I now look forward to the progenises of new ways to reach out to the youth of the local area and surrounding. Join me as I fight, as we fight, on behalf of the the loved ones we lost to senseless violence in our streets.

Join in the fight let's effect change, here and now! Come out and support us.
